Preceptor Development Training

 

 2-Day Preceptor Development Training

We offer a quarterly preceptor training program for nurses. Core areas of the program will include: bridging cultural and generational differences, defining role(s) and expectations (building the foundation), incorporating learning styles and teaching techniques, developing critical thinking, and utilizing our challenges tool kit (UHC/AACN best practice). Experienced, inexperienced, preceptor mentors, and/or future preceptors are all welcome to the training. Class size is limited so please enroll today. CLICK HERE to view flyer.

Upcoming Dates (attendance for both days is required, No partial credit will be offered):

  • July 27th and 28th (Thursday and Friday), 2017
  • September 20th and 21st (Wednesday and Thursday), 2017
  • December 13th and 14th (Wednesday and Thursday), 2017

Time of the Course (attendance on day one is a prerequisite for day two):

  • Day 1: 8:00am - 5:00 pm
  • Day 2: 8:00am - 5:00 pm

Contact Hours:

  • Nurses will be awarded 12.75 contact hours for participation in the course
  • UCLA Health is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation
  • UCLA Health is an approved Provider of continuing education by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider number 12511, for 15 hours
  • No Partial CE credit given

 New! Preceptor Update Course: Competency Tools

Preceptor Update is a 4 hour course in best-pratice skills for onboarding new graduates (nurse residents) using the nursing competency tools that have been created at UCLA Health. The training equips nurse preceptors who have already attended the 2-day Preceptor Development Training with an additional set of tools for giving and receiving feedback and evaluation of the preceptee.
