Magnet Journey at UCLA Health

UCLA Health is Proud to be on the Magnet® Journey

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the credentialing arm of the American Nurses Association (ANA), established the Magnet Recognition Program® in 1994 to recognize healthcare organizations that provide excellent nursing care.  Receiving Magnet Designation® is the highest level of recognition the ANCC can extend to a health care organization. The rigourous process required to achieve Magnet Designation® provides a framework for nursing excellence and ensures the best outcomes for our patients.

Everyone at UCLA Health is a part of the Magnet® Journey, consistent with our vision of healing humankind, one patient at a time, by improving health, alleviating suffering, and delivering acts of kindness.

UCLA Health Nurses and Allied Staff from all three hospitals celebrate Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center's third Magnet Designation® at the 2015 ANCC Magnet Conference

Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center

On September 14, 2015, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (RRUCLA) was officially notified of our third Magnet designation! This re-designation is a reflection of continued nursing excellence, made possible by the support of our entire team at UCLA Health. Recognizing that re-designation is only one stop on the journey to sustained excellence, nurses at RRUCLA will use the next four years to continue providing high-quality, innovative, patient and family-centered care while continuously monitoring and adapting practice to meet our patients' changing needs. UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica

UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica's (SMUCLA) first Magnet document was officially submitted to the ANCC on August 1, 2015! This submission was the culmination of years of dedicated work on the part of the entire SMUCLA nursing team and reflects the major enhancements to nursing practice that have occurred over the past several years. The exemplars within the document highlight SMUCLA nurses' commitment to evidence-based practice, quality outcomes, and interprofessional collaboration on behalf of patients and families. The document is currently under review by a team of Magnet appraisers, and preparations for an anticipated site visit in early 2016 are under way. Get involved»
