Cultivating Excellence in Nursing Through Education and Research

The Department of Nursing Research & Education (NRE) proudly supports the professional development of UCLA nurses across our multi-system organization.

NRE is committed to supporting the educational needs of UCLA Health by:

  • Providing optimal support for planning and hosting nursing educational events
  • Measuring professional development outcomes
  • Evaluating and updating course content to ensure high quality and evidence-based nursing practice
  • Aligning educational offerings with the UCLA Health Strategic Goals, the changing health care environment, and the needs of the community

Educational offerings at UCLA Health range from large conferences to small, unit-based classes. The Annual Palliative Care Symposium, Research & Evidence-Based-Practice Conference, Specialty Certification Review Courses and the Abstract/Poster Development class are only a few examples of the educational activities offered. See the NRE Educational Calendar and Upcoming Educational Events for more information.

Clinical Nurse Specialists, unit-based educators and other staff are encouraged to develop educational activities structured to meet the unique educational requirements to support UCLA Nurses and nurses in our community. Through high-quality continuing education, UCLA nurses will continue to deliver safe, complex and evidence-based care to our patients and their families. To learn more about becoming a Course Coordinator, see Getting Started: How to Plan an Educational Activity.
